Luck rolls the dice, but you choose which token moves. Over many games, those choices are what separate regular winners from everyone else.
Whenever you roll a 6, think before you push your lead token forward. A second token on the board gives you options every turn, and it means one capture cannot wipe out your whole position.
An opponent can only capture you from one to six squares behind. Before ending a move, count how many opposing tokens sit within that range. If two or three do, move a different token or head for a star square.
Capturing an advanced token costs your opponent a whole lap of progress. Capturing a token that just left its base barely matters. Save your attacking moves for tokens that are far along the track.
Exact-count finishing wastes a lot of turns. Bring tokens to within six squares of home, then use spare rolls on other tokens until the right number appears. Do not burn a good roll on a token that is already safe.
If you are far behind, play safe and you will most likely stay behind. Taking a risky capture or advancing into the danger zone gives you a real chance of catching up. If you are ahead, do the opposite and avoid every unnecessary risk.
